CATFISHING: The Perilous Road to Being a Victim Online. Grades 7 - 12
The Internet is a dangerous place for anyone, including anyone who thinks they know everything about internet safety. Come join this presentation and learn about the current tactics being used by online predators to find, physically locate, meet and to coerce their victims based on previous investigations conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

This session includes a read aloud of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, an art activity that recognizes our self-care strengths, and mindful breathing exercises.

Local Mental Health Authorities Coastal Plains Community Center and Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities will be here to help students develop a plan for self-care and answer questions about mental wellness. ESC-2 Mindfulness Trainer Heather McQueen, will lead students in breathing and meditation activities.
Due to the sensitivy of this session we would like to ask for questions in advance to protect student confidentiality and to assist our presenters in answering their questions. Please submit questions in advance to dltech@esc2.net by October 1st.

American Red Cross: Prepare with Pedro
Grades PK - 3
Prepare with Pedro is a free youth preparedness program created by the American Red Cross, and we are proud to partner with them to offer this session Prepare with Pedro. This resource is designed to teach young children and their families how to stay safe during disasters and emergencies.
Pedro is a penguin who loves learning about how he can be prepared and take action during an emergency to help stay safe. He visits friends all over the United States and learns about hazards local to their area like earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, and many others!
This session is FREE. Materials will be available for this event and will come directly from the American Red Cross.

American Red Cross: Pillowcase Project
Grades 3 - 5
The Pillowcase Project is a preparedness education program for grades 3-5 that teaches students about personal and family preparedness and safety skills, local hazards, and basic coping skills. Red Cross volunteers lead students through a “Learn, Practice, Share” framework to engage them in disaster preparedness and survival skills.
Upon completion, students receive a sturdy pillowcase in which to build their personal emergency supplies kit.
